zqntpmhg - 23 June 2024 An insult to the Book of Mormon DO NOT WATCH IT
Can't say enough bad things about this movie. I promoted it to others and was so excited to see it, until I saw it...
Now that I have seen it I am embarrassed I told anyone about it. I will spread the word now about how AWFUL it is.
"Ass" is said vulgarly by Moroni, Aaron and Mahigana. You see two men's butts three time, entire leg up to groin and hip. Women wrestling on top of each other. Moroni is in a Speedo for no reason. The actors are naked in bed together. You see a woman's bare back as she's nude for Moroni. You see a FETUS.
Cheesy and not believable. Plot holes are RAMPANT.
Shame on everyone involved. Sacred things should never be associated with this base level of content. How dare you!
I threw the DVD away in the dumpster as soon as possible. WASTE of $20+. I cannot believe anyone approved this for production.
It's an offense to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and you have to wash your eyes, mind and soul after watching it. You don't feel the Holy Spirit at all, like you DO when reading the actual Book of Mormon.
THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
gibbslg - 3 January 2024 Lower budget historical fiction Come on people, this is not a 1 rating... This is clearly a historical fiction. Of course this takes some creative liberty with the love story, which initially made me a little uncomfortable, but I can see why he took this approach. Given Moroni was alone at the end of the Nephite era, this was a unique way to try to tell his story as who else would he talk to? I would have liked to see more of the historical context, but this take does do a pretty decent job of representing the character of Moroni and enough reference to portray the brutality of the time. I think a perfectly accurate portrayal of the Book of Mormon would be rated R for violence, but I think this depiction was tastefully done to give the idea but keep it family friendly. Great music and pretty good acting and cinematography for a lower budget film.
