Family trauma is the ultimate heel for this family of wrestlers.
A heavy hitting biopic about the Von Erich brothers that puts the viewer through the ring until reaching a rewarding emotional payoff. It has an amazing cast all around, led by Zac Efron who delivers an understated, pure-hearted, career highlight performance as Kevin Von Erich.

There are beautiful action shots in and around the wrestling ring, but that's as far as this goes as a sports film. Instead, it is a character-centered drama that uses the Von Erich's tale to tackle themes of toxic masculinity and inherited trauma in an effective way. It leaves the viewer wresting with emotions long after the credits role.

Easily One of the Best Movies of 2023
There is no doubt in my mind that this is one the best movies we were given in 2023. Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White delivered a performance that is unmatched in acting by most other movies of the year, and possibly the past five years, maybe longer.

This movie promotes the love of brothers, while showing the dark side of parents picking favorites and sibling rivalry. It shows how abusive some families can be mentally and physically, while portraying the love that boys can have despite that.

If you read a review that is negative about this movie, please disregard. It's probably some heartless fool who was complaining that the movie wasn't 100% to the true story. While there are some minor discrepancies, it matches the real story very well. And obviously they had to skip some things and alter some dynamics to make a movie.

Again, Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White are generational talents in this movie. Would give it 10 stars, but I believe that is unattainable in any standard.
