    Entertaining, funny, charming
I can imagine how this film must have been raked over the coals. I can imagine the haters and the critics and the horrible things they said. And some of them may have been right. But I don't care. Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson make a unique couple in a story that seems a bizarre amalgam of "Notting Hill" "My Best Friend's Wedding" and other well known romcoms. It's calculated and implausible, but I didn't care. I laughed, I was entertained, I was charmed and I was engaged. It was, despite its weaknesses, just what the doctor ordered to lift my spirits.

In brief, Jennifer Lopez plays a version of herself, a huge pop star who is going to marry another huge pop star in front of 20 million people -- that is until she finds out that he's been cheating on her right before she's supposed to take her vows on stage. So, instead, she spots Owen Wilson in the crowd, a math teacher nerd, who's holding up the sign "Marry Me" (the title of Jennifer's latest hit in the movie) and Jennifer, stunned and shocked by the betrayal of her hot pop star lover, says, "Yes, I'll marry you" -- to Owen. It's a very funny moment and everything moves forward from there.

I could nitpick some things I found irritating and troublesome, but why bother? Jennifer and Owen worked great together and the movie did what it was supposed to do: "entertain" -- and a lot of movies today don't do anything. This was simple, straight ahead, easy to follow and I say "two thumbs up." I'd watch it again. And some of the outtakes at the end are hysterically funny. Watch it!

More Crap from 2022 - Marry Me
2022 is going to go down as one of the worst years for good films in the history of cinema. Well over 90% of the films I have reviewed so far in 2022 are rated 5 or less; and the fours and fives were generous. Good actors and actresses are being tossed to the lions of greed; film marketers and sales people. The integrity of the vast majority of films has fallen to the lowest level ever.. Jenifer Lopez is old news, as is big-nose blonde boy. But in the right films, both of them are capable of much better work. Marry Me is not one of them. Believablity is important in film. Why would J-Lo consider marrying this boob, when in real life, she runs around with AROD and Ben Affleck? Unfortunately, the vast majority of the audience is social-network savvy and knows all this stuff from the get-go. So, they are not buying the plot. Don't waste your time on this junk.
