    Petersburg on ice
I had really high hopes for this one because I met both Cathy Belton and Alexey Guskov when they were making this movie in 2019 in Saint Petersburg. Kathy herself told me it was a beautiful picture and she was so happy to be involved in this production - well the picture was beautiful. If you look through the visible green screen and the fact that the movie was shot on a handful of locations, interchanging in between the scenes - and most of the routes made absolutely no sense, as they were jumping down from one street to the completely distant from it in a manner of seconds but let's just say it's art, and it's not supposed to make sense this way because we, as viewers, are shown all the beautiful places of Saint Petersburg, all seven of them, replayed in a different order. Other than the locations and (I have to admit) gorgeous musical score and some of the performances that were OK at best there's really not much left to say about the movie itself. Forgettable characters with no lively strength in them, no depth, no authenticity, no relatability and in some even no value as a character and to top it all is the screenplay which is terribly weak, unoriginal in every sense of the word and nonsensical. I tried to find some grains of wisdom or mere intrigue in the narrative but just couldn't find any. Yet again, like most of the movies nowadays, behind a pretty picture there's just another green screen of blank piece of paper with nothing on it.

    Skates of love
The film "Silver Skates", of course, is not a masterpiece, which I will watch and re-watch, but once it was interesting, touching and heartwarming in some places, silly and ridiculous in others, completely implausible in others... The film deserves four points, one viewing, of course, but it lacked something, probably, soulfulness...

The film leaves a couple of phrases in my memory, one of which is in the title of this review, and the other is this - "I don't know what I love more: your generosity or your wisdom"...
