I laughed and I cried
This is one of the most lovely heartfelt stories / movies I've seen in a very long time. Taika Waititi is a natural born story teller. He makes you laugh and cry in the same breath. This is a great family movie (my 9 & 11 yr olds loved it), and is great for both soccer and non soccer fans alike. Sorry football.
Taika's character was an obvious plug to put himself in the movie and wasn't needed, but the movie otherwise needed all the other characters and wouldn't have been the same had there not been story to be told.
Grab the popcorn, the tissues, strap on the boots, and settle in for a fun night. - mjd1229 - 3 April 2024
Not a movie I would normally watch, but glad I did.
The movie was just touching and funny with a lot of interesting characters. You know its a good movie when you you have to look up the actual events on which the movie takes place. Knowing that this story was based in really life makes it all the more better. Shows that people still can change and that if you surround yourself with good people, amazing things can happen to you, your family, your community and the world around you. It also is a great reminder of what sports are really supposed to be about. Have fun, be part of a team and support each other. Merchandise and sales isn't what its about at all.
