Let's not forget they ruined GoT
"Game of Thrones" started as a revolutionary television series, captivating audiences worldwide with its intricate plotlines, morally ambiguous characters, and shocking twists. However, as the show progressed and eventually concluded, it became increasingly evident that showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss were leading Westeros into a downward spiral of disappointment and frustration.

One of the most glaring issues was the rushed pacing of the final seasons. In their haste to conclude the saga, Benioff and Weiss sacrificed the carefully crafted character development and intricate storytelling that had defined the earlier seasons. Plotlines that once simmered with tension and complexity were resolved hastily, leaving gaping plot holes and unresolved questions in their wake.

Moreover, the lackluster treatment of key characters left fans feeling cheated and betrayed. Characters who had been meticulously developed over the years were reduced to mere caricatures of themselves, with their actions often feeling inconsistent and nonsensical. Perhaps the most egregious example of this was the rushed transformation of Daenerys Targaryen from a nuanced and complex leader into a one-dimensional villain, a disservice to both the character and the audience.

Beyond character arcs, the show suffered from questionable narrative choices that undermined its once-stellar reputation. The infamous Battle of Winterfell, intended as a climactic showdown between the living and the dead, was marred by poor lighting and baffling tactical decisions, robbing the episode of its intended impact and leaving viewers squinting in confusion.

Ultimately, the finale served as the culmination of Benioff and Weiss's mishandling of the series. Rather than delivering a satisfying conclusion that honored the rich tapestry of George R. R. Martin's world, they opted for a rushed and unsatisfying resolution that left many fans feeling disillusioned and betrayed.

In conclusion, while "Game of Thrones" will always hold a special place in the hearts of many viewers for its early seasons, its decline under the stewardship of David Benioff and D. B. Weiss cannot be ignored. Their mishandling of key characters, rushed pacing, and questionable narrative choices ultimately tarnished the legacy of one of television's greatest epics.

A little generic but fun and with some interesting characters
While I initially struggled a little to get into the story, it soon picked up and I came to really have a fun time watching this film. While it contains some rather generic tropes (angsty teenagers with a less-than ideal family situation, romcom elements), I came to like the characters. I liked the way Emily's character in particular was represented and handled. Hunter's character is a little over the top at times, bordering on being cringey, that very element did allow for some humorous moments. And sure, Hunter's development was sped up quite a bit at the end, but hey, I didn't get into this expecting a thorough character study. I wanted to be entertained and that I certainly was. And as a metalhead myself, I enjoyed the music and general subject matter of the film.
