Nancy Stokes doesn’t know good sex. Whatever it may be, Nancy, a retired schoolteacher, is pretty sure she has never had it, but she is determined to finally do something about that. She even has a plan: It involves an anonymous hotel room, and a young sex worker who calls himself Leo Grande.

A deeply meaningful film
When I first saw the trailer I had a feeling this film would speak to me on some level. This movie is not simply about sex. It's about a woman's relationship with sex, with her body, her family, her age, & with societal perceptions of women & sex. It's about how society shapes our views of ourselves, our bodies, and what we do with them. It is evident that the director & script writer are women, and I'm glad. Another reviewer questioned whether the film would've been tawdry had the genders been reversed. I'd say that posing such a question misses the point of the film. Beautiful and brave
Well I wasn't expecting that ,I was so impressed just how brave this film was to make ,the strengths and flaws in both characters made you think from a personnel angle about life and relationships in general .often humourous with both roles being very believable.my admiration for Emma Thompson has always been hi but to see her cast in such a warts and all part was amazing and the script flowed like real life .the actor who played Leo character was also very natural,I haven't seen him in anything else but I'm sure it won't be last time and lastly the incident in the hotel foyer was for me a brilliant and lovely way to round up...well done the old student waitress your expressions were priceless.a great movie play that deserves wide recognition ,simply beautiful.
