Slow yet meaningful if you look at it from that prespective
So the main theme is that the lead , a girl going to college next year tries to figure out who she is and can she be someone else ? Like we all did when we were off to college. The nerdy ones explored being more open and trying new things the extroverts tried to be more serious and disciplined. Then few of us had parents whi would judge every single living soul and would feel that the rest of us are beneath them. We all know such parents either we have them or one of our friends. The hidden gem is the mother of the lead would feel she is way too good for everyone and would control her daughter , depriving her from having silly fun experiences of life which help any human relaize that while life should be taken seriously but not too seriously that one mis step one mistake and you feel you are done for. One should not live in the fear of saying the wrong thing and may be taking a wrong decision or may be with friends who are not as cool as you think you are . Because most of the time taking decisions , moving forward , having experiences is what life should be made of rather than being safe all the time living in the mental cage. Along for the ride is about a girl letting her feel for someone and showing up. When opportunity shows rarher than feeling awkward and insecure about her looks or feeling she is far less fashionable than her friends at the shop she dresses up and opens up , to her side of the story and opens up to new experiences . She says what she felt rather and facilitates hard conversation . It was a sweet teen movie with nothing much to look forward to except night swimming and food fight but the point is these moments with friends are very important to feel at soul level that human connection is important shared experience is important . Those who don't have that end up expecting to meet special someone and finding all the pleasure with that one person which never really happens. The worst movie I have ever seen
Do not waste your time on this movie. It is as if I was watching grease and west side story as if the director of Sesame Street wrote the script. Absolute trash acting and the main character gives me the ick. This movie takes the light hearted out of my entire soul. The main character hooks up with her Dad and her stepmom watches.
