Vendetta

When his daughter is murdered, William Duncan takes the law into his own hands, setting out on a quest for retribution. After killing the street thug responsible for her death, he finds himself in the middle of a war with the thug's brother, father, and their gang, who are equally hell-bent on getting even. What ensues is a tense back-and-forth game of vengeance. By the end, William comes to find that the quest for revenge never has a winner.

    Utterly Laughable
The premise of the story had promise, but this movie is let down by bad script and terrible action sequences. Particularly the questionable tactics employed by the main protagonist (who's a gulf war vet) when under fire. Add to this the seemingly hard to kill bad guy (Theo Rossi), who (over) acted like an immortal being, and simply stood still without cover while a gun battle ensues around him.

Despite some weak directing, some actors did well with their characters. By far the standout was Thomas Jane. IMO his portrayal of his character (Dante) even surpasses the main character (William Duncan) played by Clive Standen. I think a spin-off movie about Dante would be interesting.

Bruce Willis' character is just a footnote in this movie. A minor role. Perhaps the producers hired him simply as a "name" to attract audiences to the movie.

VERDICT: A predictable story. And while not a total disaster, it is left wanting, and falls short in many areas. Not the worst movie, but not good neither.

    I've seen this one before...
Definitely a rip off of Death Sentence and other revenge driven themed movies. The acting was horrible apart from Mike Tyson's role who delivered the most authentic performance in the movie. The one guy who sold the main character weapons seemed to be channeling his inner Samuel L. Jackson for the role of random arms dealer. The movie was also filled with generic ominous and foreboding music to express a sense of mystery and somber which ended up coming across as cheesy and laughable. If I had the closed captioning on it would have said "dark shadowy music playing...".

It's as if the director has no idea how to capture and portray criminals in an authentic way so he googled "gangster" and was like we need vehicles we 30" DUB rims. Apart from me finding the film comical, don't waste your time. 3/10 stars because at least they filmed it in HD.
