gutsmcd-42398 - 29 May 2024 ET For Adults ...and when I say this movie is like ET for adults, I mean that I wouldn't watch ET now and enjoy it that much as an adult, but I thoroughly enjoyed Jules!
It was like a symphonic harmony of so many elements...
It was unique but not ridiculous, it was exciting but gentle, it was funny but sometimes serious, it was simple but very philosophical, it was just the right length, it was completely unpredictable, and it was perfect for the type of movie it was meant to be. In my opinion.
In short, I loved it and I'd recommend it to most people, regardless of if you like science fiction or not.
This movie transcends genres :D.
view_and_review - 26 February 2024 Old People and Aliens Old people and benign aliens go together like tea and crumpets. Look no further than "Cocoon" one and two, "*batteries not included," and "Jules."
In "Jules" an alien crashed into the backyard of an old man named Milton (Ben Kingsley). Milton lived alone and was going through early onset Alzheimer's or something similar. He was routinely visited by his daughter Denise (Zoe Winters) who was very concerned about him.
Because Milton was suspected of having cognitive issues, no one believed him when he said he had an alien on his property. Later, quite by accident, Sandy (Harriet Sansom Harris) and Joyce (Jane Curtin), two associates of Milton, also found out. The three septuagenarians kept the secret to themselves lest the government find out and do what they did to E. T.
Jules, the name they gave the alien, never spoke. It was humanoid like in that it was bipedal, had opposable thumbs, and ate food, but it did have all black eyes, a weird shaped head, and grayish skin. It gave no indications it was a threat and pretty much served as company for the three elderly Pennsylvanians.
"Jules" was entertaining. There wasn't much excitement and I didn't know where it was going but I enjoyed the ride.
