If Ingmar Bergman made a movie about women in this situation, this would be it! Astounding
This is one of the best movies ever made. Check out the reviews from the professional critics, not the ax grinders. They compare Jennifer Esposito to Martin Scorsese, which is accurate and a very high (and risky for them) comparison, but I've watched a lot of films in my time and this movie is the movie that Ingmar Bergman would have made if he wanted to make a movie about women in this situation. Forgive my ignorance for not having a female director to compare the depth, feel, and after affect of this brilliant movie, I'm sure there are several, and I'm sure they, too, would say that "Fresh Kills" kills it, ending the debate about whether or not a woman can write, produce, and direct a masterpiece of cinema.

    So good!
Was so excited to see this movie and it did not disappoint. I sat frozen in my seat watching this film. Mafia film from the POV of daughter Rose. This is what a film should be! Finally, an original script without cgi, a super hero or an already over told sequel. The actresses who play Rose, Connie and their mother (Ms. Esposito), are beyond talented. Supporting cast is also very good! I felt the love, loyalty and fear. The attention to detail is perfect. I felt transported to Staten Island. Please see this film. Blows me away that Jennifer Esposito wrote, produced and directed this masterpiece. She is a force. Bravo!!!
