    Too cheesy
Wanted to like this movie, but just couldn't. There were some entertaining parts but overall just too corny and cheesy. I get that it's supposed to be a parody and all, but it just splinters off into too many ridiculous (and not in a good way) story lines it becomes hard to watch. The Pablo Escobar stuff is just, well, dumb. The last half of the movie teeters on unwatchable. I really wish they would have brought some more reality into it rather than making it such a cheeseball flick. If you're into that type of movie you will love it, but if you're the type that likes a good movie that is watchable you will struggle with this.

    Starts off amazing ..
..and exactly what I would want in a parody biopic story. The polka party, the discovery of my bologna, the impromptu Another one rides the bus performance, cinematic gold and quite hilarious. But then Madonna comes in and the minute she gets abducted, it just goes off the rails, forgets it's a biopic and becomes a sudo action film.

I've loved Weird Al since I discovered him as a kid in the 80s and have watched his movies back then as well and I just find it odd that he simply did the same things with his new film. His first film finished in 1985(when it was filmed) and UHF had a third act with Rambo inspired action and Weird decides to roll with both those same exact premises.

He had an awesome biopic going and had a million ways to keep that parody going yet he just goes to unbelievable action that doesn't fit with anything we are told about his life thus far. It's just out of left field and takes you right out of the movie.

The worst offense though comes with Amish Paradise. It's 1985 and that song was made in 1996. Nothing sounded like that in the 80s and it sticks out like a sore thumb. He has a great catalog.of music and could have used tons of 80s songs to make it work so why go that route?? If you wanted to parody biopics, why not use lasagna to parody la Bamba? Why not if you wanted to be torn up over Madonna using you, you do One More Minute and she kills you because of that song?? There were soooo many choices he could have went with to stay in the era of his biopic so why that song? None of that Amish story was funny and while I laughed at the assassination, It just made me think of how many better ways he could have pulled that off without the drug lord subplot.

Overall, I rated it a 6 as Ratcliffe was fantastic and it has a good amount of funny scenes, but what it gets wrong ruins a lot of it's rewatchability. I've watched it twice and I just can't imagine watching it again past the Madonna abduction sequence. It really sinks the movie big time.
