dannylee-78082 - 1 July 2024 Feeling Good It's been a long time since I watched this movie but I am finally able to get back to reviewing. This was quite a beautiful movie. It really captures the beauty of a "mundane" life. I love the music choices, which really matter a lot to me. It makes you think about what "mundane" really means. Perhaps your life being mundane makes you notice the little beauties that you may encounter in it. If it's high-speed and exciting all the time, you wouldn't have the peace of mind to take in the life that you are given. Taking it slow, one day at a time lets you find the joy of life. I love the message that the movie gives but maybe I don't live out my philosophy as well as I hope to. The movie itself felt a little bit "mundane" in a good way. I think I still love movies that are powerful and not flat, but this movie was the antithesis of that. Still a solid watch.
anastastimo - 10 June 2024 Breathing life into this boring existence That is my first encounter with such a subtle, gentle, contemplating yet profound and moving film. What a discovery!
Its unique atmosphere envelops you in a haze of gratitude and everlasting joy. Immediately you feel cozy and warm as if the soft arms wrap you around and gently lullaby the restless mind. From the very beginning you live the life of the main character and go through every single detail together with him.
Happiness of the hero is found through simplicity, consistency, altruism, job devotion, retro-hobbies and staple habits. His silence makes his words even more meaningful and deep. His short dialogues and remarks are full of modesty, self-respect and respect to the others.
Along with this peace one might also feel the acute pain which is there like the Sword of Damocles. In spite of it he carries on doing what he once started.
Thank you Wim Wenders for the stunning soundtracks, amazing picture and what everyone seems to forget.
