    What's to hate?
The premise is bold. Maybe the risk didn't pay off, but it's original and enlightening. Seriously, Black people ARE constantly forced to cater to the feelings and needs of White people at their own expense. That is 100% true. It seems like people just don't like to be reminded of that. But, why watch this movie, then? That's clearly what it is about. Why are you surprised?

I don't write reviews to get likes. I write my honest opinion. And, there was absolutely nothing offensive or wrong here. It wasn't an aggressive form of anti-racism (and I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with that either). But, it was moving and about self acceptance.

Maybe it's ok to be a "Magical Negro" sometimes, if it keeps you alive. Maybe people do whatever they have to do to survive. Everyone does that, and it's not just a message about race. It comes down to forgiving yourself for not living up to the ideals that you might like to have, in the real world. It's about empathy and equality, and that resonated with me.

Don't listen to the reviews and give this movie a chance
Saw this movie recently and thought it was really good!! Not sure why there is so many negative reviews. Justice Smith is perfect in capturing the awkwardness of someone hyper aware of their surroundings and how they could be affecting other people. I found this movie funny, just have to pay attention. I think people were expecting this to be like Harry Potter, but really it's more like Dear White People with a bit of magic added in the best way possible. In it's essence, it's a story of how someone realizes their self worth beyond the views of others racial biases. I would definitely watch this movie again and I hope more give it a chance.
