    Just No
What is it with these biopics that can't tell a story without some gimimick. The gimmick in this film is a fat suit and a horrible Tom Hanks accent. Ten minutes in and I was done. This is the Elvis story on speed. We all know that Parker had an influence on Elvis but do we need a film that focuses on Parker in this way? I couldn't get past it which is really too bad because I was enjoying Austin whathisname as Elvis. Same died blond hair, heavy eyelids as Elvis, a nice bit of eye candy, but the film is god awful. It's so far removed from the heart of what made the king the king and I just couldn't stomach it to continue watching.

    I really can't uderstand so much 1s and 10s
I will start with what I didnt like and move to the prons later on.

I genuenly felt that the movie was more about celebrating american 20th century history with a sprinkle of Elvis rather than the man himself. I was hoping more of a Johnny Cash movie with all the rough stuff in Presleys career like drug abuse. The managers character is far more of a cartoonish villian than an actual human beign but I reckon that is not Hanks fault (since he is a great actor) but rather the script. All in all his life story deserved a better movie than this one celebrating the positive and negative traits of Elvis. The rap was way off for a celebrity superstar during the 50s and the 60s. And there was no rap/hip hop in the black community then either so I dont know why there was a need to put that when Elvis enters the black part of town. Just cringe.

I liked his roots with the black community and how he was influenced by soul and blues. Especcially in his early days and his obsession with it. It actually gives a lair to the character. The dancing and the hype when he first stepped on the scene in the mid 50s were spot on. And once I understood the movie wasn't going in the direction of the "Man in black" but on a rather lighter direction I decided to contain my own cyinicism and to take the movie as for what it was: A little nod and a celebration of a life of a man that is amongst top 10 most succesful musical artist (maybe 5 but thats for another debate) of the 20th century and definetly an american icon.

The young actor portraing Elvis was a great cast as an actor and a person who really looks like the man.

All in all they surley had more material but I enjoyed the movie nevertheless.
