    Oye vey!
    I read another review, and he said there were confusing scenes that needed further clarity! (I was too!), so I bought the memoir of Sergey Piot's (?). I thought I had the wrong author! The book and the movie are totally different! Why oh why did they present a sanitize version over the actual story line? For starters, Lusia seems to be a 'loose' woman, having had several abortions; she is the daughter of a general, and apparently she forcers Roman to do the manly thing, and marry her! The baby is a still birth! And there are other characters who enter Roman life, who he befriends who pull at his heartstrings, so much so, they become. The conflict between them and Sergey! Roman's quandary was he loved his family , friends and his career as a pilot, at the same time his love for Sergey! He loved Sergey with all his heart, but the pressure of the others., for his love, forced him to make this heartbreaking decision!

    A film you see don't have to tic all boxes to be good
    Hate or love this one?

    It seems that those who have seen it do one of those.

    I was entertained by the film. Of the drama and the story of these two soldiers. Language in English instead of Russian was no dampener for me. We are used to that.

    Nevertheless, similar stories have been told many times in the past, Brokeback Mountain has been referenced a lot.

    Although this therefore does not have the most innovative script and story, I think we can bear to see such stories again and again. Love is something many have to fight for today. This film reminds us how such sacrifices affect lives. Perhaps this particular film can change the life of some young people who see it?

    And I also like that films are still being made outside of big studios and huge budgets. Films with messages that some people recognize, while others have something to learn from.
