Good, but could have been better.
Overall, I found the movie to be quite entertaining, what with the special effects and the sound track. The acting was good, even though none of the actors were native punjabi speakers.

The almost kissing scenes, girls roaming with boyfriends in the open, the easy access to alcohol and loose female dressing is totally against the Pakistani village culture even now, let alone in the 60s. This is the point which cost it the 2 stars. Thank God that there were no item songs included. As for those people who say that the original was better, punjabi movies then were jokes. MASSIVE overacting, unrealistic action, dance scenes from fat leading ladies, you make it. As kids, we use to watch them when we wanted a laugh. This movie actually made the premise serious.

    fun and amazing technically
This movie is a blast and shows us that pakistani cinema really can be moved forward into the western world and stand on its own two feet. Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abassi carry this film on their shoulders with palpable tension and gripping dialogue in every scene. Faris Shafi(mooda) gives a bit of humour to every situation, though at times endangering others in the process. The film is hard to look away from from start to finish and at the end you'll be sitting in the theater thinking wow! I just saw a fabulous movie. I think that Mahira Khan may have been a bit miscast with the urdu punjabi accent but nonetheless, if you don't speak enough punjabi it won't make much a difference. The entire cast plays their roles to a t and it shows how much their love is for this movie. It's a movie with high stakes and so visceral and bloody that you don't know who will actually win each fight. Gohar rasheed(makha natt) plays the crazed bloodthirsty brother with such a power you really don't know when to laugh and when to shriek in horror.

This movie is breaking boundaries and with it being such a big international hit i hope Pakistan will take this as a green light to try to do something different, and help bring Pakistani cinema to the rest of the world.
