    Enjoyable and heartwarming
Not sure why this gets so many negative reviews. It's a light and enjoyable romance film, perfect for an evening in. Sure it's stereotypical and we all know how the movie is going to end but that's why we love these movies. I cried when the characters cried and laughed when they laughed. There is sin, loss, love, and redemption. It's like Pride and Prejudice with both characters judging each other and then realizing they were wrong. Not to mention,Sofia Carson is so talented, she wrote and performed all the songs! She tells the story through her music. I'd watch this again anytime with some friends and a cup of cocoa.

overstuffed writing but I like the leads
Waitress/singer Cassie Salazar (Sofia Carson) meets Luke Morrow (Nicholas Galitzine) and it's a horrible first meeting. He is a Marine buddy to her friend Frankie (Chosen Jacobs). She is diabetic and broke. She comes up with the idea to marry Frankie to get his military health insurance. After Frankie turns her down, Luke agrees to commit the fraud. He's a former addict who needs to pay off a large debt.

It's a simple hate-to-love romance. Some of it feels forced and the film is overstuffed with issues. Both leads have multiple issues and there are so much stuff in the story. I would like to get rid of half of the plot points. Despite their broadly written roles and some cringe dialogue, I do like the two lead characters. Maybe I like the actors more. They are definitely beautiful people and Sofia Carson is a pretty good singer. That's enough.
