    Wanted to like it
Maybe my expectations were set to high because I loved Holy Motors so much. I loved the weirdness, the choreography, the cinematography.

I found Annette promising in the first twenty minutes. The comedy performance of Henry was well done and I love the extra layer of the audience becoming part of the show was a meta layer to the movie I was watching.

The movie was weird, but not weird enough.

Let me come forward and confess that I didn't finish the movie. After an hour I couldn't take it anymore. I became bored. Why?

-The songs were dull and the lyrics were so repetitious.

-The story was dragging and slow.

-The movie didn't give me something to hold on to.

    -It wasn't weird enough.

Maybe the second part of the movie made all of this right, but I couldn't bear to watch it any longer. And I'm not the type to leave a movie half watched.

I really wanted to like it.

    Not so nice
"A nette" is german for a nice person (female in that case). So my summary line is pun on that or riffing on that if you will. Of course this has nothing to do with Marions character - just me playing with words. Something people do - especially when they are together (in love and marriage).

And if you have both being artistic in the movie, you know that won't hold on for much. There are quite a few things that are crazy. I mean this is not Marriage Story - especially because it is written by the Sparks Brothers. If you don't know them - do not worry. I found out about them earlier this year, when I watched the documentary about them. And you probably have heard some of their music too.

A weird little movie, with quite a few good actors in the middle of it. The poster with the waves threw me off a bit, when it comes to what to expect. But I think most will not rely on posters alone (or the cast), but will have seen the trailer. So you do know what you are in for. Still seeing it unfold is even better (hopefully)
