Extremely Entertaining and Pleasing, but Needs Work on the Story
I absolutely love this movie! Yes, I know it has its faults, but it was still a lot of fun. I found it to be very sweet too. There was a lot of effort to please the fans, but I was able to do more than that. It was able to please families around the world. I might be a little biased, but every time I watch this I get a smile on my face. I'm still finding Nintendo Easter eggs to this day. It was able to please Nintendo fans, like myself, but that might also be one of its faults. I think that they might've been to worried about pleasing the diehards, and that's why they couldn't deliver on the best story. The pacing is just too fast. I wish we had more time to breathe, so we could get more of the character interactions that I loved. I think this movie was able to deliver on a good story from start to finish, and it has a great theme and takeaway for the kids.

Kind of Unexpected Favorite Movie of 2023!
I was very hesitant to see this film because honestly newer animated movies just aren't my style of animated movies (the classics of my childhood Disney, Universal, Dream-Works, Paramount, etc. Were it for me!). I really enjoyed the film & it was my sense of humor (darker trauma humor with a little bit of adult humor). There were a lot of moments that really showed what being the different out of our family or group of friends is like, that women can be in charge, despite our differences we can all get along, that love doesn't look the same to everyone, adventuring out on your own can be fun, & that family & friends are important at the end of the day. Why I didn't like the film was that there were a few moments that made me question who made it (the whole Peaches bowser song & his proposal made me fully cringe (one of the worst moments) & made my boyfriend promise to NEVER use that speech when proposing to me someday - yes he laughed & said he would use the whole speech & song).
