jwifygbw - 1 July 2024 Avoid it, it's a total waste of your time! Triangle of Sadness, a 2022 film directed by Ruben Östlund, despite ambitions, fails to maintain the pace nor, what is more serious, the interest of the viewer. In addition, its duration is really excessive, about 150 (!) Minutes, when already after the first 10 the doom gets oppressing.
The plot, which promised a sharp satire of the fashion world and the elite, is lost in a messy narrative and underdeveloped characters. The dialogues are often forced and the situations, which in the intentions should be satirical or grotesque, appear more embarrassing than funny. Certainly never comical, indeed often irritating.
The characters appear of no interest to the viewer, who is inexorably destined to sink into the deepest sleep. Even the usual skill of Woody Harrelson, who offers a solid performance, fails to save the film from its superficiality and presumption. In short, a work to be carefully avoided and forgotten.
neshobanakni - 27 April 2024 A complete waste of two and one half hours How can you have a comedy with no laughs? This was a complete waste of two and one-half hours. Is it supposed to be some sort of Marxist allegory? Some rich people are stranded on an island. The only person with the ability to fish or build a fire is a Filipino toilet cleaner. She takes advantage and makes herself queen of the island. The others go along, otherwise, they will starve. She uses food to gain sexual control of a young and handsome male model, much to his female model girlfriend's chagrin. That is the last third of the movie. The first two - thirds consists of class privilege cliches. It is thoroughly stupid.
