    Riveting
Spellbinding, stunning, hold-your-breath suspense. Words fail me.

I could not look away, but still there are moments of hilarious humor and sweetness, e.g., the flier telling his co-flier the joke about German Fokkers, but in an anecdotal fashion. :-)

The children are the film's centerpiece - as they should be - and they are adorable. Much of the story and the film appear as if it were a painting, disclosing itself as we watch, sometimes in fascination, other times in pure horror. It matters not anymore whether computer graphics are involved or not, because the result is all the moviegoer is expecting. And here, from the flying aircraft, to eggs jiggling in a basket, the entire process is exquisite.

As Americans, we - and the movie industry - tend to forget that World War II also impacted the Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Finland & Sweden).

Another Netflix movie based upon a similar premise, e.g., Nazis in Finland: "Narvik: Hitler's First Defeat (2022)".

    Highly recommend.

I really wanted this to be good. Sadly, it wasn't
If you're going to make a film about a terrible event - then you'd better make sure it's a good one. Otherwise the pain and wrong just goes nowhere and there is no commemoration, no real expression of regret. In my opinion, poor films about a terrible event or injustice just should not be made.

I'm sorry to say that The Bombardment (The Shadow in my Eye) falls into this category.

The terrible story shown here is just not told very well. A catastrophe happened in Copenhagen in March 1945, this is absolutely true and terrible, but more could have been done to show its true meaning.

The film looks good - authentic. The flying scenes featuring the incredible Mosquito fighter-bomber are excellent - in fact, these scenes save The Bombardment from a lower rating. The acting, script and filming are all ok. The problem is the construction of the story and the sometimes pointless characters. There is a lack of a clear cut story eliciting a moral purpose. Why has this film been made? What was the film makers intention in making it?

The Bombardment is suitably bleak, horrific in places. But I watched and it didn't move me. For such a terrible subject, the viewer needs to come away moved. If not, it's a waste of cellulose and does not do justice, does not commemorate or allow us to grieve.

My sincere respects to all the families who lost loved ones that terrible day in 1945. For the children - may you Rest In Peace.
